PHR looks into the intersection of web 2.0 and public health, and asks:
- How do public health practitioners/organizations use web 2.0 tools?
- What are examples of effective social marketing online?
- Can social media improve health literacy?
- Should health care providers should use social media?
PHR strives to raise awareness about public health issues and foster discussions among public health enthusiasts. Examining the broader scope of public health, PHR looks into the social determinants of health and wellness.
About Me

My name is Jessica and I created this website after I graduated from college in 2009. What began a space for me to explore my passion for public health has evolved into network of public health students and professionals (listed on my blog roll). Through blogging, I’ve also discovered new interests such as; health literacy, health communications, and nutrition.
Currently, I am working on prerequisite coursework for direct entry nurse practitioner programs. I hope to begin my Masters of Science in Nursing in 2012. My future goals include providing primary care to adult/geriatric populations in a community health center, and continuing my education in public health and health policy.
I’m an AmeriCorps alum and huge advocate for service learning. Please contact me if you have any questions about AmeriCorps, I am always happy to help!
